The TRASH Times and Other Stuff Monday, November 27, 2006: Here's Anthony Bush with a report from the TRASH South Regional at Georgia Perimeter College...Congratulations to “Robin J. Richards for S.E.C. Quiz Bowl Commissioner” (Mark Franklin, Mike Napier and Jeff Zahnen) for winning the TRASH Regionals SouthEast bracket held at Georgia Perimeter College, Clarkston Campus on November 11, 2006. Eight skilled teams played a round robin, then, re-seeded by record for a single elimination playoff. The “Richards” were the #1 seed in the playoff bracket and chalked their way to the title. Top scorer with 71.43 ppg was Sally Struthers (Dren Rollins) of the second-place finishing “The Michael Kearney Benevolent Trash Aid Society.” Sally Struthers (Dren Rollins) also won the John Drennen Wiley Rollins Award for Outstanding Achievement in Buzzer Aggression with a total of 12 negs. The tournament, the first TRASH event hosted by GPC, was a grand success because of the talents of moderators James Dinan, Catie Eisel, John Kilby and Dave Leach, and scorekeepers Bambi Maxwell and Ann Mallard. Full results including gloriously wrong and insanely early buzzes will be posted on the original GPC TRASH Regionals SouthEast site (www.gpc.edu/~gpcqbt/trash06.html).Side note: Congrats also to one of the Southern circuit’s own, Michael Kearney, for his good work in taking a comically large check away from Mark Burnett’s scone-crumbed hands. We missed Michael at our tournament, but he had a “gold” reason to sit out this Regional. James // 12:45 PM ______________________
