The TRASH Times and Other Stuff

Here's Angelo M. with a report from the TRASH SW Regional...

Greetings, everyone! Eleven teams from six schools, plus one unaffiliated team, competed at TRASH Regionals Southwest at the University of Tulsa on Saturday November 11th.

We played a full round robin, and at the end of the day, here is how the teams finished:

Alcoholics Synonymous (Tulsa) 9-1
Toss Us Another Bagel (OSU A & Rolla Alum) 8-2
Tell Your Children (Oklahoma) 8-2
I-44 Goes Everywhere: A Tribute to Tracy Oliver (Rolla) 7-3
Grumpy Old Men (Dave Legler and Co.) 6-4
The A-Team (SWOSU A) 4-6
As Seen on TV (UTD A) 4-6
Borat Sexytime (UTD B) 3-7
Animaniacs (OSU B) 3-7
Jackson 5 (SWOSU B) 2-8
Team Venture (OSU C, Drury, & NWOSU) 1-9

The Top 5 Individual Scorers were:

Captain Morgan (Alcoholics Synonymous) 56.32 PPG
Orkin (Borat Sexytime) 40.50 PPG
Oscar Madison (Grumpy Old Men) 39.50 PPG
The Dumbo Drop (I-44 Goes Everywhere) 37.00 PPG
Brisco County, Jr. (As Seen on TV) 34.00 PPG

Moreover, because I had stipulated before the tournament began that to be the tournament champion, a team had to possess a two-game advantage over the second place team, we had playoffs for the top three teams.

In the tie-breaker match, Toss Us Another Bagel defeated Tell Your Children 165-150.

In the first championship match, Alcoholics Synonymous and Toss Us Another Bagel tied, 125-125. But in the second championship match, Alcoholics Synonymous defeated Toss Us Another Bagel, 260-180.

So in summary, Alcoholics Synonymous won TRASH Regionals Southwest, with Toss Us Another Bagel in second place. And Captain Morgan was the top individual scorer.

I would like to thank everyone who attended, without whom there could not have been a tournament. Also, I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to read and/or scorekeep, especially Dave and Lori Murphy. Lastly, I would like to thank the TRASH editors for a great question set.
