A few additional notes about Viva TRASH Vegas...

1) The fee structure is being changed, as we don't expect any "B" teams attending the tournament. Therefore, the fee structure is as follows...$75 for teams who have played in at least one TRASH tournament (Regionals, TRASHionals or Junior Bird) and $60 for TRASH newbies - teams who have never played in a TRASH tournament before. Discounts still apply.
2) Anyone is eligible to play at Viva TRASH Vegas and all TRASH tournaments, unless duly noted.
3) All teams are asked to write ONE packet. A sample packet will be posted shortly.
4) For rules on TRASH, go to the defunct TRASH website at http://members.aol.com/trashionals and click the "TRASH Rules!" icon.

A quick explanation on one of the categories in the packet requirements for Viva TRASH Vegas.

"EBW" stands for Evil/Bizarre/Weird. The category concerns such topics as urban legends, true crime, "news of the weird" and other things that do not fit the mainstream.

TRASH is now accepting teams to compete at Viva TRASH Vegas,
scheduled to take place the weekend of July 11-13, 2003 at the
Hampton Inn Tropicana in Las Vegas, NV.

You know the rules, you know the requirements, you know this is
for a good cause (Teach for America). Are you in?

Viva TRASH Vegas will be a PACKET-SUBMISSION TOURNAMENT.
Distribution should be as follows...

4/4 Sports
4/4 Television
4/4 Movies
4/4 Music
1/1 Food
2/2 TGK
2/2 Pop Lit
2/2 Geek/Misc/EBW

This is 23/23. Rounds will be 20/20.

SUBDISTRIBUTION

Sports
1 Football, 1 Baseball, 1 Basketball, 1 Hockey, 4 "Catch All"
(any of the above four sub-categories, or other sports)
1 question related to the 2000's, 1 to the 1990's, 1 1980's, 1
pre-1980's, 3 "Catch All"

Music
1 2000's, 1 1990's, 1 1980's, 1 pre-1980's, 4 "Catch All"
Answers should relate to song lyrics, song titles, artists,
award-winners, etc. Please mix genre - do NOT write, say, eight
questions on boy bands.

Movies
See Music
Answer should be a mix of actors, film titles, plots, Oscar
winners, etc.

TV
See Music
Titles, Actors, award-winners, characters, etc.

Food
Restaurants, Recipes, Products, etc.

TGK
Board games, toys, kiddie TV, kiddie lit, fads, etc.

Best Sellers, sci-fi, comic strips

Difficulty level should be between TRASH Follow That Junior Bird
and TRASH Regionals. A sample packet will be posted in the coming
days which will demonstrate what we'd like to see in your Viva TRASH
Vegas packet.

One other thing - the packet must be CLEAN. No questions on X-
rated subjects, no foul language, etc.

Packets should be sent to yours truly at jdinan@juno.com starting
April 14, 2003. Freelance packets will also be accepted.
Freelancers (those who are not attending VTV) will receive a gift
after VTV as a thank you for providing packets.

The absolutely last day TRASH will accept packets is July 1st.

COSTS

The fees for Viva TRASH Vegas are as follows...

FIRST TEAM - $75
SECOND TEAM - $60
THIRD+ TEAMS - $50 each

DISCOUNTS

BUZZER - $10 each
GAME OFFICIAL - $10 each
SUBMIT A PACKET BY APRIL 15TH - $30
SUBMIT A PACKET BY MAY 15TH - $20
SUBMIT A PACKET BY JUNE 15TH - $10

Remember, all fees, minus expenses, will be donated to Teach for
America.
